ABOUT US

The Geneva Bible School was created to teach the Holy Scripture in a structured manner, book-by-book, from Genesis to Revelation. It is not a seminary for theological classes, but instead an annual programme to study the whole Bible in one year.

The Geneva Bible School is based on instructional videos by Rev. David Pawson that should be watched during each class or session, to be held every Saturday from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Classes will be organized virtually or as face-to-face sessions (our preferred method of teaching). You will receive a reminder before each weekly class, with an outline of the book to cover and also additional materials developed by the GBS Team. In addition, every class includes a Bible commentary from a Pastor or a Bible teacher from the Geneva area, who will also host the Q&A at the end of the class.

GOALS OF
THE PROGRAMME

The Geneva Bible School annual programme makes no emphasis on denominational or doctrinal interpretations. Its sole objective is to study the Word of God, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is expected that the participants in this programme achieve the following:

• Spiritual growth: To obtain a foundational knowledge-base of every book of the Holy Bible, in order to honor God with our lives, to enhance our spiritual understanding of His Word, to develop abilities to think critically when studying the Scriptures and to interact respectfully with the views of others.

• Deep transformation: To foster intimacy with God through interaction with His word and one another, so your spiritual life can be profoundly changed. The purpose of the GBS is not simply to share information, but to allow the Lord to transform our lives. We invite students, through the Scriptures, to be drawn more intimately to our Lord to fully receive the gift of God’s grace.

• Godly inspiration: To develop diligence in accepting the Call of God and to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We pursue the Scriptures as people dedicated to be “Thoroughly Furnished.” We believe the Scriptures to be the literal Word of God given to us by Holy men who were inspired by the Spirit of God according to 2 Peter 1:10, 21; 2 Timothy 3:16.

• Spiritual discipline: To instill habits, practices, and focus that are designed to develop, grow, and strengthen certain qualities of spirit, to build one’s character and expand the breadth of one’s inner life. Amongst them: Prayer, Meditation, Bible reading, Fasting, Simplicity, Silence, Fellowship, Journaling, Chastity, Stewardship, Obedience, Study, Evangelism, Gratitude, Giving and Serving, amongst others.

• Spiritual multiplication: To realize the ability to be reproduced that every Christian has been given, so you can help others to become followers of Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord will empower you to go on to witness and serve others.

ORGANIZERS’ MISSION AND PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Holy Spirit our purpose is:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6
